OK, let me just put this out there to begin with: I’m a Steven Curtis Chapman fanboy. I don’t run and hide from that. I embrace it!
Now, usually, posts on The Feed are filled with deeper articles on a specific topic. And that’s what I’ve always reserved this space for.
Not today.
No, today – in honor of Steven Curtis Chapman’s new I Am Second film – I’m going to explain why Chapman is a national treasure. And I think by the end you’ll agree.

SCC, as Chapman is called at times, is literally a living legend. Check out these stats:
With a staggering 49 No. 1 singles in his catalog, he is the most awarded artist in Christian music history, winning 59 GMA Dove Awards, five GRAMMY Awards, an American Music Award and selling more than eleven million albums with ten RIAA-Certified Gold or Platinum albums. In short, Steven Curtis Chapman is synonymous with contemporary Christian music.
Most people would be considered legendary with only a fraction of that success.

He is the mullet king. Seriously, when he decided to do “business in the front, party in the back,” he went all out. All the kids running around with mullets today have nothing on him!

He wrote one of the greatest love songs ever called, “I Will Be Here.”

He created this music video for his song, “The Great Adventure,” which I have watched nearly 1,000 times. It may be the best music video ever. Enjoy!

He, along with his wife, Mary Beth, founded a pro-adoption non-profit called Show Hope:
This story started, in many ways, with an 11-year-old girl in Haiti experiencing something that changed her world. When Emily and her mom visited the country on a short-term trip, Emily met children just like her, except they were living without the love and security of a family. And she knew she had to do something. After much prayer and consideration, Emily’s parents, Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman, felt led to grow their family through adoption — not once, but three times. In the course of several years, the Chapman family grew to include Shaohannah Hope, Stevey Joy and Maria.
If after all of that you don’t agree, then I just don’t know how to help you. You can send objections to the SCC Fan Club president, which is me. I will dispose of them properly.
Now go watch his I Am Second film!
