Aric Almirola, the trailblazing Cuban-American NASCAR driver of the No. 10 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford car, is pumping the brakes as he announces his retirement from full-time racing.
“For 38 years, my life has always revolved around me,” he says in a video explaining his decision. “I’m excited to turn my attention to my family.”
Aric is an outspoken believer and is featured in I Am Second’s newest film series alongside numerous other famed drivers. But the decision came easier as he knew his identity didn’t come from his accolades on the track or his skills behind the wheel. As he put it, “Being a race car driver is a small part of who I am. It doesn’t define me.”
Maybe you’re a NASCAR fan. Maybe you’re not. But watching him explain how he has made such a huge life decision is must-see-material for anyone contemplating a career change or any other type of major life decision. If you’re trying to figure out how to make big decisions, watch what he has to say.
