Thursday’s Evening Prayer:

You tell us to pray and be grateful for those in authority so that we can live peaceful lives. This is a great promise! We give thanks and pray for our nation’s leaders. Like us, they’re not perfect; they need your help. Lead them in wisdom, starting with respect for you and following your ways, so that they may make good decisions.

The Bible tells us that you bless the nation who acknowledges you as Lord. That sounds like a nation full of people who put you first and themselves second. That’s our prayer! God, let your kingdom come, let your will be done in our lives and our nation.

Day 1

You are a strong and mighty God, and nothing is too hard for you to do. Help us to live godly lives in your strength and to speak to you passionately from our hearts, asking you to turn our country around. Don’t let us get discouraged or give up but keep at it until we see you move.

BIBLE READINGS: Jeremiah 32:17James 5:16Galatians 6:9

God of mercy and love, please bring hope to our friends and those who are broken who need Jesus. Help them to understand that it is only by your grace that they can be saved, for none of us can ever be good enough to earn salvation. Help them to believe that Jesus is first in their lives. Open their hearts to desire to know Jesus more so that they may become followers of him.

BIBLE READINGS: Ephesians 2:5, 8John 1:12

Jesus, help us to know you, as if we had roots that grow deep into your love. Make us strong in the faith and give us thankful hearts, so thankful that your love and joy overflows to those around us, so that we can’t keep quiet. Help us to tell others about you and how you have changed our lives.

BIBLE READINGS: Colossians 2:6-7Acts 4:20

Jesus, your love never fails! Help families to love you more than anyone or anything else in this world. May each family member have a relationship with you that is real and grows deeper. Help them to spend time with you and with each other. Don’t let anything keep them from praying and reading the Bible. Keep them strong in you.

BIBLE READINGS: 1 Corinthians 13:8Matthew 22:37John 17:31 John 1:3Matthew 6:6Ephesians 6:10

Jesus, thank you for your faithful love. When we are anxious and we feel our feet slipping, you are there to catch us. We pray for those who are discouraged to be strong and give you their anxiety. Strengthen their hearts and minds with your peace so that they can find courage and hope in you.

BIBLE READINGS: Psalm 94:1831:24Philippians 4:6-7

So many are exposed to porn, nowadays, even children. They can quickly be addicted and that can have a terrible effect on how they live, on their families, on everything they do. Only you can set them free. Help them to want to turn to you for the freedom that only you can give.

BIBLE READINGS: Romans 8:2John 8:36

Waves keep coming — waves of anger, crime, and violence. We need your help because only you can say “peace, be still” to calm our hearts and minds. Don’t let us give in to worry or anger. May those who have no peace, find peace with you. God of Peace, be with us.
