‘My Evansville’ Film Contest

(Source: I Am Second)

A local expression of I Am Second has operated in the Evansville, Indiana, region since 2010. As time has passed we have become an integral part of citizens’ lives and local groups looking to revive the city’s spirit and outlook. Now, I Am Second is expanding locally to encourage, source, and share stories in which the people of Evansville are bringing restoration to where they see brokenness.

It’s no secret that over the years the Evansville (and the Tri-Cities) community has experienced its share of division, discouragement, and decline. Not too long ago Evansville was included on lists as one of the 10 worst cities to live in in America.

Today, however, community mediocrity is no longer the city’s destiny. Local organizations are coming together to encourage involvement, eliminate poverty, and to help fix brokenness. The soul of this city is waking up.

I Am Second Evansville knows there are pockets of change popping up all over the city. We want to highlight these stories of restoration to inspire, encourage, and ignite the flame of community transformation. And what’s the best way to do this? Film.

The “My Evansville” short film contest offers you the chance to tell your favorite story of how the community is overcoming brokenness. Do you know of a community impact story in Evansville? Have you seen brokenness addressed by a local organization, a church, or a family? Is there a person who represents the soul of the city in restoring lives and relationships? We challenge you to capture, tell, and submit these stories to us this fall. The winners will be highlighted at our regional I Am Second event on October 13.

This is a platform for filmmakers — amateur and professional alike — to use their skills to encourage and highlight the change happening in Evansville. Tell your best “My Evansville” story and make a difference.
